6. Financial report – In Laurie’s absence Anne read out portions of the report. No interest on savings of $18,920.31. Interest entry is incorrect. Checking withdrawals for: book purchases in the library, wooden stove for children’s area, reimbursement to Anne for sandwich boards, reimbursement to Tulli for hat embroideries, donation to support the Delbert Anderson Quartet. Deposits were for: hat sales, in-library book sales, membership, Hutcheson print. Total in checking: $5878.86. Savings and checking together total $24,799.17. Move to approve the financial report with the correction for a wrong entry on the savings interest was made by Anne and seconded by Tulli. Motion carried. Ann sent a thank you note to Emily Hutcheson Brown for the print donation.

7. Library Director’s report – (From email sent to Anne during Jared’s vacation) – Jared has spoken to Chad re: ramp and has been assured that Chad will get to it soon. End-of Year Appeal letter addresses have been obtained, so the letter will be ready to go out next week. Friends paid $2885.94 for last year’s appeal, so it will probably cost about the same this year. Jared requests: 1. Would Friends fund a new sign out front of library doors for the outdoor play area and one near the bridge. Maybe Dave Sipe would create them? Cost unknown at this time but maybe around $500? All approve of the idea.

2. Second request for funding of an outreach kit of 2 new canopies, plus printing fees for materials, to a total of $300 (this item has been discussed in prior Friends meetings and was approved as a funding project). Move to approve an outreach kit was made by Tulli and seconded by Ilga. Motion carried.

With regard to other matters, Jared reported that there were far fewer sponsors this year for the Half Marathon as well as fewer runners. There is also a need for a new race director. A discussion among Board members resulted in a members’ request of some details as to how profitable was this year’s race and how many fewer runners were there. Also, what is known about the Runner’s Club that Jared said were interested in taking over the marathon planning? Additionally, there was an article in the Durango Herald about the library’s sponsorship of Right to Read. Cult Movie Night is celebrating two years of features with a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The book supplier for the library is closing (Baker & Taylor), with no long-term supplier yet settled upon.

8. Membership report – (No report in Cathy’s absence).

9. Book Maven report – Six boxes of donated and discarded books were moved into the zircon by Tulli in Miriam’s absence.

10. Old business
Half Marathon Food Booth – homemade cookies went quickly. Tulli suggested P&D might be willing to make some in lieu of ABC/Moondog, Maybe three dozen? Tulli will ask them but suggests Friends pay for them, as P&D donates so many other items. The popup canopy is in
need of a plug of some sort to prop up one of the legs when it is set up.

11. New business
December meeting? – Ann moved and Tulli seconded to cancel December’s meeting for this year, as there will be no Christmas book sale or any other items which need to be discussed/acted upon.

12. Adjourn at 4:45 p.m

Next meeting: Jan. 6, 2026.
