Minutes – February 2, 2015

Members Present: Lee Wilson, Lee Hallberg, Dana Petersen, Carolyn Smith, Laurie Webster, Jinny Moore, Silvia Fleitz

I. Call to order: At 7:14 p.m.

II. Report of Proxies: None

III. Minutes of previous meeting: Dec 1st, 2014-approved as read. The January meeting did not have enough members to make a quorum so all that was done was preliminary planning for the bake sale.

IV. Confirmations of electronic votes/communications: None

V. Correspondence: None.

VI. Financial report: Reports for Dec. 2014 and Jan 2015 presented by Laurie. Total balance is $7,042.66. Approved as read. View the December 2014 report here. View the January 2015 report here.

VII. Librarian’s report: Lee H. handed out a copy of the budget (click here to view). Charlene Swansen is leaving to be a reference librarian in Farmington, NM. Currently other staff will take over her duties until the job is filled for this circulation manager position. There will also be an IT position open. The library has received about $5500 from the fund raising mailing that the Friends paid for through the end of 2014.

VIII. Projects Summary
A. Stanton Englehart cards sales: None have sold in the past month at Absolute Bakery. Silvia printed new labels for the cards that are out in the library and bakery and we still have plenty in storage.
B. Library Book Bags: a few have sold. We will push them at the bake sale.
C. T-shirts: Laurie W. suggested a t-shirt with the Aspen leave logo as a fund raiser. We will continue to explore this idea.

IX. Old Business
A. Bench to honor landscaping donors: Lee H. reported that benches run from $600 up to $5000 (wood, metal, stone). He will bring all the information to the March meeting. He will also check on local welders and local artists.
B. Open 1st Vice President Office: Carolyn Smith was approved as 1st Vice President.

X. New Business
A. Vacuum cleaner: Lee H. requested money for a new vacuum cleaner as their vacuum broken down. He would like a commercial quality vacuum. A motion was made and passed to supply up to $600 for a commercial quality vacuum cleaner for the library.
B. Valentine’s Day Bake Sale: Silvia has started the call list for bakers with Julia Whelihan and Jean Ernst assisting. Dana will update the flyer. The sale will run from 8 am to 3 pm on Valentine’s Day. Set up will be 3-6pm on Friday. Silvia will make a sign-up sheet for volunteers. Dana will do PSA’s and Dana, Silvia, and Lee H. will put up flyers. Lee W. will buy flowers and a balloon for the big sign. Laurie will bring a card table and membership forms and supply the bank.
