V. Financial Report: Presented by Laurie. Total Balance all accounts is $7,741.67. See report here. Laurie also provided information for 2014 on MFOL donations to the Mancos Public Library, an Income and Expenses Summary, and a 3 year comparison here. Reports approved as written.
VI. Librarian’s Report: Presented by Lee Hallberg. The library has received $3000 to date from their spring appeal. The library is getting a new interface for the public for the online catalogue which will be much easier to use. The library had a successful cleaning day for weeding and spring cleaning last week. The library will be going for a mil levy increase in 2016, supported by an organization called www.everylibrary.org. The Friends can donate up to 20% of their revenue per year to support a ballot issue. Lee encourages MFOL to peruse the website to learn more about how the Friends can help with this campaign. The library is helping FOL to seek out new officers.
VII. Projects Summary:
a. Stanton Englehart sales: Carolyn reports that 2 packs of cards have sold at the Absolute Bakery, there are 6 left.
b. Library Book Bags: they are slowly selling.
VIII. Old Business
a. Landscaping Update: Lee has had a hard time getting a bid for the sprinkler system. Lee is asking for up to $2000 to contract with Gretchen Groenke to maintain the landscape this summer. A motion was made to this effect, seconded and approved. Laurie will check with our tax advisor to make sure that the Friends can legally do this.
b. Donor Bench: Lee has 2 bids, approximately $400 for a horse shoe bench and $200 for a wooden bench with a metal back. The Friends preferred the horse shoe bench so Lee will speak with the artist about how a plaque with donors names could be attached.
IX. New Business
a. Mancos Days Book Sale: Laurie gave a check for $50 to the Mancos Days committee to get our event on their flyer. Lee would like to also do a small yard sale on the patio of miscellaneous office supplies. We will do a Friends Only event to open the book sale with free ice cream for Friends members.
b. Slate of Officers: We will try to have a slate of officers to vote in by our next meeting.
X. Adjourn: 8:26pm
XI. Next meeting: Monday, July 6th at 7 pm at the library. All are welcome!
